Dr Mireille Makary
Dr Mireille Makary is a Paediatrician who is passionate about a family and patient-centred approach to holistic healthcare for infants, children and young people. She enjoys journeying with and working alongside families, educators and allied health professionals acknowledging the best outcome for children will be achieved by working collaboratively with families. Mireille’s practicing philosophy is to maintain a family and patient-centred approach to children’s care and a “nothing about us without us approach”.
Mireille is a member of the Royal Australian College of Physicians (FRACP) with an interest in developmental paediatrics. She graduated from the University of Otago and then completed her Paediatric training at Starship Children’s Hospital and the Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne. Mireille undertook additional Developmental and Behavioural Paediatrics fellowships at the Centre for Community Child Health at the Royal Children’s Hospital and has experience working in the Developmental/Behavioural, Learning difficulties, Unsettled Babies and General Medicine clinics at the Royal Children’s Hospital. Mireille is a member of the Australian Society for Developmental Paediatrics (ASDP).
Mireille has experience in and is passionate about supporting all child health concerns, including asthma, eczema, infant and childhood feeding and sleep difficulties, constipation, bedwetting, behaviour challenges and neurodevelopmental conditions such as Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), autism spectrum disorder and developmental delay.
As a mother of two young children, Mireille appreciates the challenges of navigating parenthood. Her personal experience supplements her passion for empowering families through informed care. Mireille enjoys creative activities in her free time, spending time outdoors with her family and friends, and a good coffee!
