The school holidays are nearly upon us, and we still don’t know if we can go anywhere. Even if the lockdowns are lifted slightly, it will still mean, odds are, we can’t go far.
It has been a really tough term with kids at home, everyone suffering from some form of lockdown stress or mental health issue. Even if life is sort of OK, the term for how we are all feeling is “languishing” or just feeling “Blah”.
One great tip is to try not to look at the big picture too much. It helps by dealing with each day, keeping to a routine, having daily tasks, and setting goals and achievements, no matter how big or small. Listening carefully to your kids to monitor how they feel and add fun moments during the day, like having a spontaneous family dance, can all help lighten the mood.
Having the kids on holiday may make you feel even more “Blah” as you will need to dig into your reserves to keep them amused during this time. You may have run out of ideas?
You are not alone. We have scoured the internet to bring you some ideas from Melbourne and around the world, that may help. We are also here to help your children if they are having issues during this time.
If you have any great tips, please let us know via our Facebook or Instagram page, and we will add them to this list.
