Frequently Asked Questions
How Can I Book An Appointment?
Our Paediatricians take consultations by appointment only. Please visit our Request an Appointment for more information on booking an appointment.
Do I Need A Referral?
Yes, we require your referral before you make your appointment. A referral can be faxed or emailed directly to us from your GP or specialist. Based on your referral we can offer you an appropriate appointment and paediatrician.
Why Do I Need to Arrive Early?
All new patients need to set aside 10-15 minutes before their appointment in order to fill out our New Patient registration form.
What Are Your Fees?
Complete Children’s Health is a private paediatric practice, which operates on a fee-for-service basis. Fees can differ from doctor to doctor.
How Can I Pay?
Accounts are payable on the day of your consultation by cash, EFTPOS or credit card.
Can I Claim on Medicare?
Yes. Paediatric consultations are eligible for a medicare rebate if your child has a valid Doctor’s referral.
GP referrals to specialists are usually valid for 12 months. Beyond 12 months, or for a new problem, you should obtain a new referral prior to your consultation in order to be able to claim appropriately through Medicare.
At our practice we offer Medicare online claiming which enables you to have your rebate paid into your nominated bank account within two to three working days. Forms are available at the practice or online at Medicare Australia.
Families who are registered for the Medicare Safety Net will be able to claim 80% of the out of pocket cost of the consultation fee, once the threshold has been reached.

What Do I Need To Bring To The Appointment?
Please ensure you bring the following to your appointment:
- Medicare Card
- GP/Specialist Referral
- Previous Assessments Reports (if not previously emailed or faxed through)
- It can also be helpful to bring your child's Health and Development Record (blue or green book)
What About Previous Assessments Or Reports?
Please mail, fax or email any reports from medical appointments teachers or test results you feel may be relevant to your appointment or that you would like your paediatrician to consider.
Does My Son Or Daughter Need To Attend The Appointment?
Unfortunately Medicare will not provide a rebate if your child is not present at the appointment. If there are aspects of your appointment you would like to discuss privately with the paediatrician, we recommend bringing a trusted friend or family member who can sit with your child in the reception area.
Do Both Parents Need To Attend The Appointment?
This decision is entirely up to you as every family is different, and may have different legal requirements. Complete Children's Health does ask that the primary care giver attend all appointments to better facilitate communication and decision making.
If parents are separated or divorced, we ask to be notified so we can appropriately correspond with both parents.
Will I Need To Wait?
We understand everyone's time is valuable and we always do our best to run on time.
Please consider other patients and ensure you arrive on time for your appointment. Please call if you are running late.
If you need to see one of our paediatricians regarding complex or multiple issues, please let our staff know when you book so we can schedule appointments accordingly.
I Need To Cancel My Appointment?
We require at least 24 hours notice for appointment cancellations or changes. You may incur a fee if you change or cancel an appointment with less than 24 hours notice.
Can I Contact You With Questions?
You are welcome to call, email or leave a message (if calling after hours) with both Complete Children's Health Clinics. Our staff are happy to assist and will try to follow up with you within a business day.
If you need medical advice, please speak with our staff to arrange an appointment with your paediatrician.
We are not an after hours service. In case of emergency, please present at your nearest hospital.
Your Paediatrician will always send a report to your referring GP or Specialist. If you have further question and are unable to get in contact with your paediatrician, your GP or Specialist may be able to help.
How Do I Get Test Results?
If your paediatrician has referred your child for blood and/or medical imaging tests, they will advise you to book a follow-up appointment to review the results. This is the safest approach and allows us to maintain our high standard of medical care.
If you are concerned about any test results or you have not yet heard from your paediatrician regarding a follow up appointment, please call Complete Children's Health and we will follow up for you.
What About Medication?
You may be asked to schedule a follow up appointment if your paediatrician has prescribed a new medication or altered a dosage. It is important to ensure you attend Complete Children's Health within the recommended time frame.
Can I Get A Repeat Prescription?
Repeat prescriptions depend on a number of factors, including the type of medication, which means you may need a review appointment with your paediatrician before a repeat prescription will be provided.
